"Melchiorre's
notion that food to the cook is just like marble to Michelangelo:
it is up to the artist
to bring out what is already there. What a concept for living
life."
--E. Robinson, Salisbury, Maryland
"Melchiorre
is a national treasure!"

After a day
of wandering through Umbria's hilltowns and vineyards, shopping
and visiting museums in Florence, or simply soaking up the Tuscan
sun by the pool, coming back to "the villa" and a
home-cooked meal is a welcome treat.
And that's
where we come in!
Amore
Sapore
("to love flavors") was founded in 1996 to introduce
visitors to Tuscany and Umbria to the experience of enjoying the
traditional foods of the region. Under the direction of Melchiorre
Chessa, a Sardinian who has spent most of his life in Umbria,
Amore Sapore brings the textures, flavors and colors of central
Italy to the kitchen of your vacation home. We work closely with
you to plan menus to please every palate, based on seasonal
favorites, likes and dislikes, ages and allergies.
In addition
to catering, Amore Sapore offers demonstrations and welcomes
participation in such varied local specialties as cheese and
sausage making, baking bread in the stone bread oven, ravioli and
gnocchi cookery, grilling, and cooking with local herbs found
growing wild in the Italian countryside.
As much as
possible, all the foods we use are locally produced or grown in
our own gardens: organic vegetables, and meat from animals raised
by farmers we know. We use only the foods that are in season, and
we help you plan your menu around what is available while you are
here.
